Unique Web Design You Will Fall in Love With
While spending your time travelling through the internet you have probably come across a lot of websites that look very similar. It can almost seem like everyone is using the same platform for their website and they probably are. WordPress is used to power over 30% of the world’s websites, that’s roughly one in every four… unbelievable, right?
Well, Digital Renovators has come across some great examples of unique web design over the past few months. The kind of websites that you can’t help but stare and marvel at for long periods of time, and we would like to share some of them with you! They’re just too good to stay hidden in the depths of the internet.
First, let’s talk about what makes a website’s design unique in our eyes.
Most websites you will come across probably have the standard alternating colour blocks as you scroll through the different sections of any given page. This is a well-known practice for capturing attention by perking you back up as you come to a piece of content that the business wants you to read. However, this is something we’re all used to now so people are coming up with creative and innovative ways to make their website stand out from the crowd. (We’re not detracting from this formula as it works incredibly well for a lot of websites, we just want to provide some light relief.)
A unique website design will make you sit back for a moment and gasp at how interesting it looks. Maybe it’s so stunning that you send it to your friends or show your co-workers. For a website’s design to be unique it has to have that “wow factor” that makes it instantly shareable and that is exactly what we want to show you today. Some of the examples are flips on the standard formula and others are just plain gorgeous to look at.
So, what does unique web design look like? Let’s dig into four incredible examples…
Page Flip Layout by Codrops
(https://tympanus.net/Development/PageFlipLayout/)
Codrops have come up with a flat take on a magazine-like layout which features a “page flip” animation that looks amazing. While navigating through the website’s pages the content gets covered then the next “page” will appear. When you choose to go to a page further down the list, multiple elements are shown to cover the content that creates a flat page flip book. They’ve also added a nice visual indicator at the side of the pages that represent a book cover which changes the deeper you go into the website’s pages. I think you will agree that this is a fun and unique take of what web design should be.
Fishtank Design by Superimpose
Superimpose is a creative agency that challenges brands to go further and this is certainly evident in their website design. It features a fishtank-like design with the content floating around the edges which creates immersion, as you can see in the above gif. This design continues as you explore the website and really makes you want to keep exploring it. This design has obviously worked as they have worked with leading brands like Adidas on multiple campaigns. Click the link above and explore the website for yourself, we promise you won’t be disappointed by the challenging and unique design.
Waves by Heco
Heco’s slogan is “We turn information into experiences people care about”, you don’t have to look at their website for long to know that is absolutely true. As soon as you open it you are confronted with a waves animation that is beautiful, with white lines representing information. Scroll down and you will see that this is a flip on the coloured blocks concept we mentioned earlier, but it is a unique take on this style of web design. The layout of their imagery and utilisation of animated objects creates a world of imagination that sells their service of “turning information into experiences” extremely well.
Explosion by Revelé
Revelé is a creative marketing agency that designs strategies to reveal the uniqueness of their clients and help them to reach more audiences. Of course, they couldn’t promise this without being unique themselves and I’m sure you can tell that from the gif above. Their name is revealed and then there is an explosion of balls which cover the content. You can then move these balls around the reveal the content behind which is very fitting considering their name means “to reveal”. This is a smart and unique way for them to show off both their creativity and the services they provide to their clients.
