Halifax is a Rugby Town
The game of Rugby means a lot to Halifax. It’s been running deep in its veins since 1873 – that’s a lot of history! So when Digital Renovators was approached to be part of the major rebrand of the Halifax RLFC, we were on the edge of our seats.
Halifax RLFC was to become the Halifax Panthers. It was a major operation shrouded in secrecy and would be unveiled to the public after a well-organised and well-executed marketing campaign.
The Halifax Panthers Website Brief
Our founder, Lee Kenny, (CEO and Founder of Snowflake Media Group) had recently taken seat on the Board as Media and Marketing Director. Kenny approached the Digital Renovators team with what would be a challenging yet historic website brief.
We were to completely redesign the existing Halifax RLFC website as well as the rebrand to the Halifax Panthers. Now, for a well-established Rugby Club with over 100 years of existence, I don’t need to tell you – that’s a pretty big website! Kenny’s vision for the Panthers was clear. This was going to be a website that would be able to stand toe to toe with some of the biggest sports clubs in the world. It would be designed with such care and attention and the fans of Halifax would be proud.
We had the brief. We had the coffee. It was time…time to be a part of history.
The New Halifax Panthers Website
The new home page was cleanly designed, well-branded and showed off the new Halifax Panthers merchandise. With a website this size, it’s important to have good navigation and website structure. The Panther’s navigation was tidied up and designed in a way where any fan could easily find what they were after.
Halifax Panthers Shop
Every sports club needs a shop they can scream about. Within a week, the Panthers had sold out of all their merchandise! Here’s how we designed the Halifax Panthers Official Shop.
It can be easy to get carried away with a Shop. That’s why it’s super important to keep the categories simple. The first version of the shop has only 7 categories. If you give your customers too many categories to choose from then they can feel overhwlemed (and not make a purchase). As this was a rebrand, it made sense for us to include the category, ‘New Arrivals’.
Any shop worth its salt should have great imagery, clear product descriptions and a ‘Related Products’ section to encourage people to buy more. Seeming as the Panthers sold out so quickly, we would assume the fans liked the Shop.
Digital Renovators is proud to be part of this historic rebrand. Our wish was to give the fans of Halifax something they are proud of. The reaction online and offline has been fantastic. The Club wants to reach a wider audience and we feel that the website is a key part of achieving that objective. We wish the Halifax Panthers every luck in the 2021 season.
